Worked examples
Back from a 30-minute lunch
A lunch that starts at 12:15 PM and lasts 30 minutes ends at 12:45 PM.
12:15 + 30 minutes = 12:45
8 paid hours with lunch
Starting at 7:00 AM, eight paid hours plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch puts clock-out at 3:30 PM.
7:00 AM + 8h paid + 30m unpaid = 3:30 PM
How lunch deductions affect worked hours
For a completed shift, paid time is the elapsed clock-in to clock-out span minus the unpaid break. Paid breaks should not be entered as unpaid time.
paid hours = elapsed shift time − unpaid break
Overnight shifts
If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the calculator treats the end as the next day. That makes the same tool useful for night shifts without asking you to manually add 24 hours.
